ITALIAN FESTIVAL AT IDIOM
A FULL WEEKEND CELEBRATING ITALIAN CULTURE & LIFESTYLE
The annual ITALIAN FESTIVAL at IDIOM returns on the weekend of Sat 4th & Sun 5th March 2023, bringing together the best of the Italian lifestyle in the Cape. Join us again for an enogastronomic journey through Italy, discover new flavours and grape varieties in our Italian wine-tasting area, and taste the latest additions to our Vinotria imported Italian wine portfolio.
Sign up for one of our informative wine masterclasses.
Bring your shopping bag to fill up on specialist Italian deli products, and browse the Italian themed stalls.

There are 20 regions across the boot of Italy, and each is unique. Understanding regional provenance of ingredients and wines is one of the secrets to finding the right wine to match with an Italian meal.
The festival is a great place to explore the regionality of authentic Italian dishes prepared by our participating Italian guest chefs and suppliers, who will also be hosting daily show-cooking demonstrations.
There is plenty of entertainment for all age groups. Enjoy lots of live music with four live acts over the two days.
For bubbly lovers visit the Prosecco tent and our new Almare Spritz area.
Dedicated Italian-themed kiddies activities will take place on both days, such as pizza-making classes for the little ones, mosaicing and mask making, face painting, our football penalty shootout competition and much more.

The Italian Festival will take place as usual on the lawns of Idiom with its panoramic views of False Bay and the Helderberg mountains.
The full program with activity time slots will be released the weekend before the festival.
Saturday is aimed at wine lovers while Sunday is ‘Family Day’ at the Festival, with the Cape Alfa Romeo Club and the Vespa Club planning club rides to Idiom, while several Italian regional associations will be enjoying a day in the countryside.

2023 EDITION: FOCUS ON CAMPANIA REGION
and the islands of Capri and Ischia. We welcome Francesca Festa from one of the top Campanian wine producers
FEUDI DI SAN GREGORIO from Irpinia, located near the slopes of the dormant volcano Mt. Vesuvius.
Francesca will be presenting several wine workshops with us: learn about their famous Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Aglianico and Taurasi wines.
Another speciality of the region is wood-fired Pizza Napoletana! Gambero Rosso award-winning chef Enrico di Giambattista from PIZZA CONNECTION in Woodstock will be making authentic pizza at the festival.
Our guest chef is Masterchef Claudio Uccello from Naples, via FUMO restaurant in Pretoria, who will be preparing special plates from Campania.
