Taste the new 2018 vintage of Idiom Cape Blend: a world-class, award-winning Pinotage-based blend that is considered one of the Top 5 in the Cape.

A hero of the Cape blend category, our Idiom Cape Blend is one of the wines that collectors covet, and over the years it has established a strong pedigree as an iconic Pinotage-based blend of South Africa. This wine is a velvety, opulent expression of a proudly South African variety. It is a powerful fusion of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Shiraz. With intriguing aromas of dark berries, liquorice and cloves, this wine is sure to seduce your senses.

In order to be called a Cape Blend, the main variety of the wine has to be Pinotage. In our case, we generally use about 40%, but this percentage will vary slightly with each vintage. What this means for our Cape blend, is that there is great emphasis put on bright red fruit, like raspberries and cherries from our Pinotage, along with structure and spice from both the Cabernet and Shiraz additions.

The Idiom Cape Blend expresses intriguing aromas of Fynbos – the plants belonging to the Cape Floral Kingdom and famed symbols of South African flora – which grow amongst the Da Capo Vineyards of Idiom Wines.
